I saw this cool decorative medallion at a friend’s house and wanted to get one for myself. I looked online to purchase one and here’s what I found:
The cheapest I could find that I liked was $35 and that is way too steep of a price for a single accessory. I decided to keep my eye out for something less expensive that might need some creativity. A few weeks later, I found this beauty:
I was SO excited! It was 50% off of $3.99!
All I did was spray paint it white. Seriously, that’s all I did. You can find the paint I used here.
Doesn’t it look brand new?!
I love it on my bathroom shelves!
At the cheapest, I would have paid $35.99 and my knock off version was $7! One key to finding accessories that you want to upcycle is PATIENCE! I just keep a little file in the back of my brain to things that I want to keep an eye out for and sometimes I get lucky. Sometimes though, it’s super tedious to keep looking so it might be worth it to just buy the item you want. I do that when I realize that I’m wasting valuable time, so I have to decide if it’s worth buying or finding something else. Any tips on upcycling an item that you’ve learned? I’d love to hear about it! Love you all!
