Peonies $0 Upgrade

Hello!  I was looking to spruce up my decor without spending any money.  I saw these peonies that I’ve had for a few years that were looking drab and a little gross. ☺  Here’s how I gave them a little facelift and repurposed them:

They were super faded and dirty looking.

Here’s all the supplies I had lying around that I thought I could use for the flowers.

I just mixed some paint colors until I got the shade that I wanted and added textile medium.  If you don’t know what that is, it’s an ingredient that you can add to paint to make it easier to paint fabric. It’s like $6 or $7 at any craft store.  I’ve had mine for a long time and a little bit goes a long way.  The directions are on the bottle.   Since I’d already had it from another project it cost me nothing.  I have tons left over for more projects!

The textile medium was the most important ingredient in all of this! I tried painting the flowers with just the paint and it was firm and rockhard and looked weird. The textile medium made it so it absorbed in the fabric beautifully and isn’t as stiff when you touch it.

And then you just paint it! That’s it!

I had way too much paint! A little bit goes a long way once you add the textile medium. The textile medium made it glide right onto the petals.

Let them dry and then…

Here they are all done! Can you believe those are even the same flowers?!

I love looking at them on my hutch.  You can see how I made that succulent dome here.

Can you believe the difference?  I was so excited that I was able to give these an update without spending anything!  Have you ever tried anything like this?

Love you all!
